    NEXT MONTHLY SERVICE
    Saturday, MAY 25 @ 5:00pm
    "Love and Reconciliation"

With all of the crises and conflicts that are happening right now in the world, how can we keep from feeling helpless? Is there a way to use our Unitarian Universalist Principles to effect change in ourselves and in the world? Please join Cara Elrod, the Worship Team and members of our community as we explore ways to act positively in troubled times. There will also be a special story presentation from Joy Silver: "
Wangari Maathai and the Nobel Peace Prize"

Here are the electronic notes and the flip chart images from our most recent Community Dialogue on Money and Resources.

The discussion was very thoughtful and we arrived at the following overarching question:

What do our bylaws, policies, procedures, budget processes and practices need to be to support a culture that explicitly values offers of support to the community and requests for support from the community equally and values all members of our community just as we are."
If you would like to offer your creativity and energy to this project, please contact catherine at catherinemarystrickland@gmail.comso we can launch the proposal group soon and potentially bring a proposal to the whole community at our June 8th meeting. This is a big project, so it is likely that our bylaws, policies, etc will evolve over several months.

    Governance Structure Wednesday, April 17 @ 7:00pm

Governance, it may not be glamourous but it is important. Our community has had a couple of opportunities to think about how it wishes to govern itself and what it values most in terms of governance. It is clear that we are looking for a non-hierarchical form of governance - a system that values honest communication, thoughtfulness, and power that is shared. We hope you will join us - cathy strickland and Laura McNaughton - to choose the system we will use for the coming year.

Join us online. Please register on the website.

Inquiring Souls is back! You are invited to join Bill Richardson and Jessica Motherwell McFarlane for tea, snacks and question-storming on every second and fourth Sunday in April, May, and June at 4pm.

During Inquiring Souls, curiosity leads the way in our quest to learn about life, the universe and everything. Guided by the imaginations of our children and youth, we will attempt to answer questions that range from delightfully silly to profoundly deep. Sometimes we may find ourselves laughing at a surprising question or a novel way of viewing a problem. Other times, we may scratch our heads as we wrestle with a perplexing issue. Inquiring Souls invites us to wonder about love, our UU faith, relationships, and our place in the world.

Our time together with be centred around our children and youth — with adults coming along to share in the wonder and fun. Note: if we have more people than chairs, we will open up Zoom to beam in all who wish to participate.

RSVP. Your RSVP is strongly encouraged to help Bill and Jessica be prepared and have a chair reserved for you. Children and youth will have first ‘dibs' on the in-person seats. For those who cannot join us in person but wish to be part of Inquiring Souls, we offer the option to attend by Zoom. Please reserve your Zoom seat at least 24 hours the day before we meet so we can be prepared with Zoom equipment. Please RSVP to jilly.watson@shaw.ca

    Health concerns:

    1. No fragrances allowed due to severe allergy.
    2. Wear a mask if you wish.
    3. If you are in doubt about your health and whether or not you are sick, please attend by Zoom.
    4. We will ask that all guests, wash their hands upon arrival. Our family must follow a conservative, COVID-wise protocol.
    5. Please let us know how we can best accommodate your food allergies during snack time.

Cat allergic? Warning: Cats live in our house and generously share their fur wherever they go. If you are allergic to cats, you may prefer to attend by Zoom.

Acknowledgement:  Inquiring Souls is a creative and soulful adaptation of a protocol established by the Right Question Institute.
