From catherine Strickland:

Anne Strickland died surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 13th at the age of 89. Anne was a vibrant, generous, curious, creative and caring woman who loved to golf, ski, sew, travel, play cards, canoe and spend time with loved ones. She was part of the superwoman generation, balancing a career as an Occupational Therapist with doing the vast majority of household tasks and parenting. Anne was a devoted, supportive and loving spouse to Roy throughout their 65 years of marriage. Together they were unstoppable - living life to the fullest! They were the best of friends and it is heartbreaking seeing Roy having to now live without her. Anne was a thoughtful and caring mother and an incredible role model for her two daughters, catherine and Sarah. And she was an enthusiastic and fun-loving Nana to her four grandchildren making Halloween costumes, taking them on trips and other adventures, attending school and sporting events and sneaking them cookies when their parents weren’t looking. A celebration of life will be held for her later this fall.

SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE 15 YOUNG PEOPLE CHALLENGING THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’S LACK OF ACTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE

On October 26, fifteen young Canadians will enter a federal courtroom in Vancouver for the start of La Rose v. His Majesty the King — the first youth-led climate trial in Canadian history.  They are asking the Federal Court to hold the federal government accountable and order it to develop and implement a science-based Climate Recovery Plan capable of reducing Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions and protecting their constitutional rights.

Robyn plans to be there with other climate champions outside the Federal Court at Pacific Centre (701 West Georgia St.) before proceedings begin at 8:30 a.m. to cheer the youth plaintiffs on as they arrive.  Feel free to join me!

At 5:30 p.m. on October 26, you can also join the Youth v. Canada Climate Rally outside the Vancouver Art Gallery (800 West Georgia St.) to hear from the plaintiffs and their legal team, alongside community voices, music and performances.

For those who want to follow the court proceedings beginning at 9:30 am, there will be a watch party at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

We acknowledge that we live on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem First Nation), which lies within the shared territories of the Tsleil-Waututh, Katzie, Musqueam, Qayqayt, Squamish, and Sto’:lo Nations. We thank the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm who continue to live on these lands and care for them, along with the waters and all that is above and below
